LEGO /FESTO MPS

I am currently working on a project with someone who is looking to mimic a FESTO MPS line with LEGO NXT. One question is whether we can interface with Siemens PLC's with the NXT and if STEP 7 programs can be compiled and downloaded to the NXT brick. If anyone out there has tried a solution like this, I would appreciate any input you can share.
