Issue with starting a post with @

Sometimes I try to start a post like this (for example):

@Xander, thanks for the tip.

Notice though, it is seemingly not possible to do so. You can't start a post with "@". You can however, start with a space, and then a "@".

If you try to post with just a "@" to begin with, it will not work. I just realized why I sometimes have issues when posting. I could never figure it out. When I would click on "Submit" it would just load a blank page, and it wouldn't post it. Now I know why (or at least one thing that causes this error).

Also note that if you attempt to edit the post, it will drop the space automatically, and you must add it again in order to post. Therefore, I suggest using another method, or a different symbol first (like a ~).

That's why I have been using the ~ symbol instead. Indeed it was very frustrating until I found the cause.

Yeah, I know. I'm used to using @ whenever talking about/to someone at StackExchange (it sends a notification in their inbox, so I know I won't get ignored... most of the time).
