Synchro Drive

Post by nxtman3141 »

Does anyone know of a good synchro drive base? it needs to be sturdy and use 2 motors.

also can you make a synchro drive with 2 turntables instead of 4 and have the back 2 be castor wheels

Can you be more specific, or give an example of what you are talking about?

Yes, how about you refer back to my question. Maybe if we know what you are asking, we will be able to help.

Hello nxtman3141
Google is your friend, isn't it? http://www.google.fr/search?q=synchrodrive+LEGO

We will find this very interesting stuff on the FIRST page:

http://www.robotthoughts.com/category/l ... hro-drive/
or
http://us.mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/Com ... nchrodrive
or
http://www.convict.lu/Jeunes/SynchroDrive.htm

With this, you are ready to experiment your own solution...
If you can be more specific on your needs, you will get more accurate answer, but please, google your question first!!!!
Hope this help

I'm building one actually. It uses a total of 3 motors (drive and steering), and 4 small turntables. I don't have pic's or an LDD file right now. I will try to get some pic's for you soon (it'll be sometime around Wed.)

I would as sugjected do alot of research. If one plans ahead he is less likely to lose ground as he move forward. Ok, so say you have found nothing at least no one seems to have went the path you have made. Now what? It is up to you, make a moke up, then protype and refine. In the end you will have learned on your own if your Idea works.

Just off the top of my head it may work, i think.

Hey! Here's the wheel base I'm using. Just so everyone knows, I got the design from the book "Building Robots with LEGO Mindstorms NXT" by Dave Astolfo and Mario and Giulio Ferrari (GREAT book! Find it HERE.)

(The file is an LDD file as an attachment. I've highlighted the gears and rods that spin.)

Did you know I designed Monkey bot and rat in that book. I wanted to include alot more details(program) but as things go Editors have this thing about cutting things down. I think it was chapter 16?animals I was asked to make two new or remake older projects(from the old book) that were not to hard and I also made them so only 1.0NXT parts were needed as well. So since I only had a few weeks to contribute I made 1 new(monkey) and redid one of the older into studdless Rat. Monkey is by far better in its use of gears and movement.
