Easter Eggs

Post by stryker001 »

Yes, I am posting this again. :D

If I were to include an Easter Egg in an NXT program, what do you think it should be? I posted this on the NXTasy forums recently and got a few ideas, such as a hidden game, hidden commands, music, graphics, options, etc. I recently made (and programmed) a remote-controlled NXT car that could pop a wheelie and hold it (essentially like a Segway), but it wouldn't do so unless you knew the secret: thus, it was kind of like an Easter Egg. If you have more than one Easter Egg idea, post them all. :D

I think it would be a good idea to tell us what kind of robot you are using... is it just an NXT brick, or a wheeled robot? does it have arms, etc.

I have a pretty cool idea, you could make it quietly beep out a morse code message!
This message could be a funny quote or something, or, it could tell you a sequence of things to do which will make the robot do something cool... like playing a song.
Keep on brickin'

I like that idea.

As far as what my 'bots are, I have made a little bit of everything (just NXT, walking, driving, balancing, tracking, processing, synthesizing, etc). That's why I put "If you have more than one Easter Egg idea, post them all."

i like the idea of hints that go to hints. morsecode while it sounds cool might be too hard for the average person. but I think you should put a funny picture or message after a long line of hints. maybe 5-6 hints like combinations that lead to messages ect.

sounds like a good robot on its own. make something similar to the "bop-it" game but try to make it all lead to hints after hints, maybe 25 hints and the winner will be something funny. but if you do make it whatever it is dont tell anyone :) let the people figure it out. if the program is big enough you may be able to hide it inside of the program and even show people the program and they will have to trace it back to the hints.

Make a "! Startup.rxe" and make an Instant Messenger. If you push a certain key when you start up the NXT, it
asks the other NXT's name. and you can send him a .txt!

So if I name a file "! Startup.rxe" it will autorun it?

IM-ing on the NXT would be cool. But how would you type? Not everyone has access to a keyboard like this one, and although it is possible to make forms of input that would allow for every character, none would be very intuitive (imho).
