Need Expert Advice

hi.....I gave my grandson (11 years old) a lego 3804 mind storms robotics invention system 2.0. he was all excited as he loves science, etc. well, he built a couple of things with the kit, and then I get a call from his mom saying they tried to download the cd that came with it, so he could program some of the things he built, but no matter what she did, it would not accept the software. I know the kit is an older kit, and I know they are running windows 10 on their computer. is there anything that can be done, other than me going out and buying an older computer that has windows 98 on it? this is getting to be a more and more expensive birthday present. thank you, in advance, for any advice anyone could provide. I am not a tech savvy guy.....i'm old. so simple solutions are best. thank you again.
