EV3 Education Set models
I have an EV3 home set and would like to build the education core and expansion set models. (I understand I will
need the gyro sensor and the gyro sensor block.) I have no use for the lesson plans and data logging info in
the $100 software package. I'd be happy to pay $25 - $35 for a CD or download of just the building instructions
and EV3-G programs for these models. Does LEGO or LEGO Education offer or plan to offer such a product?
Thanks for any info.

Re: EV3 Education Set models
Found a reference which said they were on the LEGOeducation.com/MINDSTORMS site but could not track them down!
All I could find was http://education.lego.com/downloads/?q= ... 3F400E4EDF}
UPDATE
Not sure if this is what you are looking for http://www.us.lego.com/en-us/mindstorms/community/bi/

Re: EV3 Education Set models
Thanks for the links. Two of the files at the LEGO Education look good; I hadn't seen this page before. I downloaded
them for ideas for my NXT robots.
But at this time, I'm looking for the instructions for the new LEGO Education EV3 models,
such as Gyro Boy and Stairclimber. They look very interesting.

Had another look round but all I can find is http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.p ... opic=86621 which has photos but not building instructions.
Might be worth a visit occasionally as the instructions may appear here if they are ever released by LEGO.

the software code of the EDU kit models is surely copyright-protected

LEGO does not want to see the software part of the environment distributed freely. I suspect you will unleash the wrath of LEGO Legal if you do.

Re: EV3 Education Set models
Having worked as an SW engineer, I fully agree with the idea of businesses charging for intellectual
property. (And there are times for hobbyists to freely share ideas and parts.) In the past, LEGO has
been very good about selling individual parts. If I needed 25 of a particular part for a MOC, I was
able to call LEGO, and and order them. If they were prepackaged in 6 packs, yes, I would have to
buy 30, but I did not have to buy 25 of the 800 piece set #6789. I only paid for the parts I needed,
plus shipping and handling - a very reasonable arrangement.
What I would like to see is for LEGO to unbundle the EV3-G code for the robots from the classroom
material, e.g. lesson plans, data logging. The educational robots are very nice, and I suspect many
kids, TFOLs, and AFOLs, would enjoy building these robots at home, where they would not ever use
the lesson plans and data logging. And if these robots were built at home, I suspect it would result
in many orders to LEGO for additional sensors, wheels, motors, etc.
Is there a contact at LEGO where we can request the EV3 Educational software package be sold
unbundled? Thanks for any ideas.

I have passed it on to the appropriate contacts at LEGO Education, I'll let you know what their response is.
