I often use MLCad for my robots which are all studless and one problem I've run into is how the "grid" doesn't work well for up and down because it's set up for bricks and bricks are a different high then studdless beams.Normally for grid coarse it takes 2 "snaps" to move something 1 stud left, right, backwards, and forewords and when working with bricks it takes 3 "snaps" up and down but with studless up and down you either get overlapping pieces of a big gap so i would always use fine coarse to fix this but that is very annoying so I changed the grid settings
The default settings are show here - you can find the settings by going to Settings->General->Change then click on the "Step, Grid, Snap" tab.
My custom settings are:
So this is 2 snaps to move anything in any direction 1 stud with studless building
(1 stud = 20 units)
