Domain Names

Post by bungeshea »

Some of you may know my site The NXT Generation Robotics (http://nxtgenrobo.net.tc http://robotics.bungeshea.com). I have not been very active on it lately because I can not access it from school, the library or my netbook as the free .net.tc domain name is blocked. At home our computer is not working so I have to use a really slow one which is shared among us.

I was wondering if some of you knew a good domain name registrar. I would be looking at under $20 AUD a year.

My domain is registered through 1&1 - http://www.1and1.com. Do you just need a domain name registrar or a web host?

I registered mine via Hostgator, who are my host. They probably partner with a registrar of some kind. I'm very happy with their service :)

Mine is WordPress (I'm not sure, but is that what your website originally used?), which charges $ 18 US a year. But that's for a regular blog.

I brought a .dk (Denmark) domain instead of a .com as it was quite a bit cheaper. There is usually not as much demand on a country specific domain, so there is a higher chance it is available or for a better price. Depends on country though.
