Interests/hobbies

Post by spillerrec »

A quote form the Job/Colleges topic:
I'd say you can make your hobby your job, but you had better be really, really sure that you have a very deep interest in it, or as others have said you may find that you lose interest. Oh and it's also good to have something to get you away from a computer screen!
So which interests/hobbies other than Lego do you guys have?

My main reason for playing with Lego: Mechanics

Other interests:
 • Storage, organization and communication of data in software systems.
Other hobbies:
 • Anime, Visual Novels
 • Designing software systems (and if they are interesting enough, code them)
 • Music, playing the piano (however I couldn't get piano with my when I moved, so it is on hold until I can afford a digital one...)
I love to do stuff which combine several of my hobbies if I can. Common combinations:
 • Anime and software systems
 • Lego and software
 • Anime and music

To everyone who hasn't done so, go check out Little Brother by the Boing Boing dude, Cory Doctorow. Hackers unite! As a gift, you can give someone the free ebook under the CC-license. (Stingy, maybe, but it's the thought that counts!)

 I didn't realize that it was only available to my 'friends' on Goodreads for <18. I've fixed the problem by uh... adjusting... uh... you know. :D

I think it used to work a few months ago.

I hate COPPA. They want to restrict the entire Internet to 21+. (Long term goal.)

I know it's really annoying.. take G+ for example (though that's google). I'd really like to be on there, but I don't see them lowering their minimum age anytime soon (but I hope I'm wrong)

I rarely watch TV (only when I'm eating, I glance at what everyone else is watching), but I do like movies.
