But as I said(I think),if you make the variable "map" shorter, like making it only 5(just a sample) long, it will work.
So there must be a limit to how much is written to an array.

Ah, sorry, I thought that the version you posted already included the "shortened" map.
I think it would be really useful if you could come up with a couple of really simple examples of code that show when it works and when it doesn't - I also suggest splitting the Read and Write code into separate programs to make it really clear what's going on (it's a bit difficult to figure out in the example you gave because, for instance, map has already been assigned values so it's difficult to tell whether the values have been read in correctly).
If you post what you've found as a new thread in the Software section of the forum then hopefully it will catch the attention of a few of the other NXC experts (who know a lot more about this kind of stuff than me!).
