Re: Do Androids Dream of LEGO MINDSTORMS?

John, I notice that I didn't make myself clear enough: I am using that as any "normal" user would do, just downloaded it to my Android phone and ran it against a simple two-wheeled robot. So no development mode or manipulating source code - that will follow soon... Actually, I got it worki...

Re: LeJos: all robot classes and methods in 1?

Doc, no stack, no heap, no pointers, no recursions, no dynamic memory allocation These seem to be no real NXT robotic problems to me but rather technical issues of a language architecture. I'm yet to see a real-world NXT robot issue that can be solved with leJOS, but not with NXC. with the underlyin...

Re: Do Androids Dream of LEGO MINDSTORMS?

Thanks John. Simply being an "end user" for the moment (without having set up some Android development /debugging environment for now), I wonder whether there's any possibility to view some kind of log information on the Android phone to get insight into the detailed nature of the IOExcept...

Re: LeJos: all robot classes and methods in 1?

Yes I can understand that. Unfortunately the leJOS classes are designed assuming an OO model I can't see anything "unfortunate" in this. I'd like to use LeJos, but without objects. I'm afraid that you will neither get lucky with that nor achieve satisfying results, as it's like trying to ...

Re: Do Androids Dream of LEGO MINDSTORMS?

I just got my HTC Desire mobile and instantly tried out MINDdroids. But, sad to say, without success so far. :( MINDdroid can pair to the NXT brick (running official firmware, version 1.28), but once I try to connect, it states "Bluetooth error Oops! It seems that your robot is not switched on ...

Re: The new site.

You are the stuff that makes this board. - Xander True indeed! Anyone of us better stop that type of "consumer" thinking, at least when it comes to the MINDSTORMS community (and better on a lot more areas, too). YOU are the people that form MindBOARDS! This is not another TV show performe...

Re: wishlist for BricxCC

maybe a simple IDE (not as big and overloaded like eclipse) for LeJos with full functionality for editing, compiling, and linking. (edit: of course I meant: IDE!) Well, if something is over loaded actually is in the eye of the beholder and to some extent a matter of practice, methinks (for m...

Re: Trig functions in NXT-G

I just wanted to see if I *could* I see - “Because it is there” ;) Just in case a non NXT-G, non-standard firmware platform is an option for you (you will forgive me deviating somewhat from the original thread subject, won't you?) : leJOS NXJ, for instance, offers a variety of trigonometric fun...

Re: Trig functions in NXT-G

Xander,

Is there a particular reason why you want to limit yourself to using NXT-G ?
NXT-G might not always be the best choice for advanced use cases.

Re: New from HiTechnic: Angle and Magnetic Sensors

[...] its not that hard to "hang it" under the axle and gear too Well .. I'm not so sure about this. Depends on the model, I presume. There are a lot of models I've seen with no space for a relatively large device like a sensor on any of the ends of an axle. When making use if this sensor...
