Somewhere deep in the Ev3 manual I found information that signal mode works only in a distance range of about 70 cm to 2 m.
In my first tests I was simply too close.

My IR sensor is not usable in signal mode. But it is working well in the other modes. I have sent e-mail to customer service.

Solved.
Uninstalling the BT driver on my notebook and installing Microsoft BT stack helps.
So it seems that EV3 SW does not support BT stack other than Microsoft BT stack.

Bluetooth EV3 connection problem on Windows XP
Hi, I am using the EV3 SW on my notebook with Windows XP. When pressing the refresh button for connection there is no result. When opening the BT environment from Windows XP menu then I am able to establish a serial connection to EV3 brick. But the EV3 SW is still unable to see the EV3 brick. I cros...
