NXT "Warehouse" colorsorter project

Hi everybody

After some research i concluded that this was the best forum to join to discuss NXT and show the projects people have been doing. I'm new to this forum, and decided to show what im struggling with at the moment

Ever since we've started programming Allen Bradley PLC's where i study, i got hooked and decided to buy an NXT and build something myself. I find it very challenging because you are forced to come up with alternatives since LEGO has "locked" dimensions.

Anyway, i wanted to build something that sorts things. I came up with an idea for some "warehouse" like thing that puts the colored balls on shelfs.

Im far from finished since the program, at the moment, only consists of timers. I wrote a quick program just to see if things worked as they should.

I have spend the last 5 months on this projects when i have had the time to it and the next job is to program it

Very nice. I do have one suggestion. You may want to think about mounting the touch sensor on the mobile robot, instead of on the stationary base, and then running a wire to the mobile robot. However, I do understand that these things transform over time, so you may not have designed it to be anything like it currently is.

I like the way the feeder works.

Oh yeah haha, why didnt i think of that yesterday when i mounted to touchsensor - of course it has to be placed on the mobile robot, it doesent make sense why i placed it where i did

and thanks for the positive response on the feeder. Took me quite some time (and alot of reconstructions!) to come up with an effective design.
