Webchat in the forums site?

I was wondering.....

Who would like to have the webchat channel #mindboards on the forums?
So maybe under the phpBB banner, there could be a webchat chatting room where everybody can see, as long as your a member.
That way we would have more activity on the channel and also on mindboards. Also it would be easier to access the channel.

So, what do you think? Could it be done?

I like it. I wonder if a chat-back feature could be added as well. There may be more participation if there was a way to see the last (say) 25 to 50 posts in the irc room, then people could jump into the conversation from a cold start up.

Until we've migrated to the new web platform, this won't be possible. We can't modify much on these forums at the moment. Perhaps when we've migrated, which we're going to look into very soon, we'll consider this in as well.

In my opinion, a chat is not good idea.

Many discussions will be on the chat.
The aim of this forum is to discuss and exchange idea and tip about NXT (I think ), and then other members can see it later. On the chat all wil be lost after a while !

I sort of agree about that possibility, but so far that hasn't happened. Currently we mostly talk about personal Lego projects (not necessarily troubleshooting), or even stuff quite off topic of the mindboards theme. As long as people know when and when not to use chat, it should continue to be fine.

I would prefer to have just a link to the freenode browser chat (and simple join instructions) instead of an actual chat feed.
