Quad brick FlexPicker

Post by inxt-generation »

First off, (Chorus)"Happy Holidays and a LEGO New Year!!!" Now my project.

About a year ago (February 4th to be exact) I started to build a LEGO FlexPicker. One Birthday, Easter, and April fools day later it was done. A FlexPicker using 2 each of NXTs and RCXs to sort bricks.

I would do more, but, as they say,
they wrote:Don't reinvent the wheel.
You can see a more complete article here courtesy of BuildSmartRobots.

But who cares what they say? I'll post the video and some pictures here anyway.

First prototype, FlexPicker was controlled by RCX and used segmented disk with LightSensor as encoder. Failed due to limits of RCX software and my limited experience then.

Things coming along nicely, got a second NXT for my birthday, and redesigned a bunch of stuff after this.

Almost done here, just needed to work on the brick despenser.

And, finally, it's done.

It was programmed in NXT-G and RCX Code. Used up almost my entire LEGO Collection at the time. For a much more detailed explanation, again I suggest you look at my article here.

For all the pictures and programs, see my BrickShelf page.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: (Trumpets blaring) The Video!!!!

A.K.A. NeXT-Generation.
