Basketball playing robots

Pretty nice idea for a student project, actually:

The german description on vimeo says "the robots have sensors that can measure the intensity of infrared light", but on the pictures it looks like a classic NXT light sensor. From my own tests I remember that it's far more sensitive to sun light thant to fluorescent light, so it probably works for IR (or near-IR) as well...

Very interesting project.

Most phototransistors are much more sensitive to IR than to visible light. However, the NXT light sensor phototransistor seems to be quite sensitive to the higher frequencies, so it may be less to IR.

The light pulses so they only need to look for a recurring spike in the value from the light sensor to determine the direction. It looks like a very cool project.
