How attachments work

I want to know how to attach a file. I have gotten it to upload. (example: "BattleBots.nxc")
It's very simple.

You upload it, click "Add the file", let it load the page, then click "place inline" when the cursor is where you want the file to be located.

Ok. I upload, when it finishes, it refreshes the page and back to the beginning... what is that?

Read the instructions. Matt has given you a perfectly good set of instructions, follow them!

I should have explained more. I upload it, and when it is finished, it just refreshes the page without showing any uploaded files, and any edits on the old text i've done is removed. I re upload it, but it just refreshes the page, and the options tab is selected... help please.

What type of file is it?
Is it that large?
