what do you think the 3.0 version will be like. will it be a 3.0 or a whole new series? how many motors? what sensors such as gyro, acceleration, compass, ir seeker etc. will it be the same programming language or text? would you get it? what type of peices would be in it? i want your feedback.

Speaking from what I am hoping, though some of this is very possible.

There will not be a 3.0 NXT. If lego decides to continue with the Mindstorms series, the next set will be a whole new system.

These are some facts about my ideal platform.

The processor unit:
  • An ARM9 or ARM11.
Backwards compatibility with NXT and RCX stuff.
6-10 H-bridge motor ports, and at least 4 will allow encoder feedback.
    Support for 4-8 servos.
    ADC's, TTL UART, RS-232, SPI, I2C, RS485, 10/100 Ethernet, master USB.
IR, BT (not only serial connection), WiFi.
    Direct access to IO's.
A full color LCD at least 150x200 px, with a touch screen cover (maybe capacitive).
    RCA video and audio ports.
    VGA video.
It will either NOT have a battery compartment, or it will be removable in favor of an external battery/supply.
The set will not include many sensors, but there will be many available.

It will be a different programming language; C/C++.

It will have normal technic pieces, but include some that are not made yet. It won't have more than about 600 pieces in the main set.

The problem with thinking up ideas is that you have to think of the price. Don't take me wrong, those are AWESOME spec's! But, with all of that + pieces, I would say that it might cost $300+! but, that's just a big stab in the dark.

Oh, if it would only cost $300, I would be very surprised. I was thinking more like $300 for just the processor unit. Probably $500 or so for the base set. $500 is a lot for a lego set, but only twice what an NXT set costs. I would trade two of my NXT sets for my dream set.

NXT sets? I have 2 sets that are 100% complete (8527, 9797), another that is just missing a few minor parts (8547), all the electronics to another (8527), and most of the electronics to another (8527, and the screen is not very good on this one). A total of 5 NXTs.

Which video?

Edit: OT, but nxtman3141, if you want me to reply to your PM, please allow PM's ;)
