I've built a car with front wheel drive. The back two wheels are both on independent axles. I'm a middle school student and I need this car for a science project that i have to start in less than two weeks. How can I make my car steer, other than using a whole seperate motor and steering mechanism?

Please note that it is very ill-advised to post two topics in regard to the same situation.

If you can only use one motor (there should never be a situation that that is true), you can do it many ways. One simple way, is with gears. Make it so one wheel is connected directly, and one will only be powered in one direction.

There are SO many variables to the case, that it is hard to just tell you how to make it work. Perhaps a picture would help.

use a ratchet system, car steers when it backs-up ...because one side of the wheels get locked when going reverse but not when going forward.

there are 2 ways, the easiest, involves a worm gear, and a somo other gears, so you leave a free worm gear, and two matching gears near of each other, and so, when the motor goes one way, the car goes forward, but when you put the motor backwards, the worm gear will screw untill the oposite gear moving it
