Marble ("Pellet") Sorter

I am a first year engineering student at a college and currently struggling with a project. We have to design a machine using the EV3 platform and 40$ of excess materials that can receive card with a barcode that indicates type of marbles and how many of each, then dispense the requested marbles from a random batch of 50 marbles.
I know that we can differentiate between marbles of different colors with the light sensor. We also have to differentiate between material and size. For example theres red glass marbles of two sizes, 14mm and 19mm.
How to you program all of this, and get the machine to stop when the requested marbles have been dispensed?
