NXT 2.0 Mainboard burned

Hello,
I recently needed my NXT 2.0 for a university project, but I could not start it up, and after all the solutions found online did not help, and even the LEGO support had no answer, I opened it up. This is what I found:
Does anybody know which part this is, and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks in advance,
Reygok

I am guessing that is L1 (15uH inductor) in the power regulation circuit.
You can find the schematics to the NXT in the hardware developer kit. <

The part got too hot and melted the plastic/rubber, which means it had too much current running through it. This tells us that some other part that regulates the current (or voltage) has failed. So, even if you replace the melted part, it will probably melt the new one unless you can find out what else is wrong and fix it.

Might cost you a fortune to source & purchase components, and if you don't find the root cause then it could happen again.
Now that the EV3 is out, NXT's are coming on ebay at about half what they fetched a few months ago.
Saw a partial kit (NXT, some motors & sensors plus other bits) going for about £45.
I bought a nearly new NXT with the latest battery and charger for £45.
Probably financially better to buy another one and get something reliable, as well as saving a lot of time.

If it's a LEGO NXT, call LEGO and ask for a replacement.
