Hi all,

Is the EV3 InfraRed Sensor and Hi-Technic IR-Ball compatible?

I have my IR-Ball miles away at the moment, so I can't check myself.
It would be nice if LEGO could hurry up with some EV3 Data & Schematics......

It is impossible as they come from 2 different companies: HiTechnic and Lego. By the way you come from Tassie? What a nice place! I was recently in Hobart last August for an exchange programme. I am actually born in Carlton, VIC. I am sure that you are asking this question for the upcoming RoboCup Junior. Good luck and I hope that if you win this competition, you would proceed to WRO Moscow.

Hey Ray,

I tried it with my football but no dice:

I remember asking the hardware devs about this and I don't think it ever occurred to them to make the LEGO IR Sensor work with the standard IR balls. The HiTechnic IR Seekers work ok with the EV3, though.

Thanx Xander.

I assumed that would be the case. (Into the same basket as the majority of 3rd party Mindstorms add-on are put, by LEGO.)
