Need a robot that can pick up colored balls and follow a white line on the floor at the same time. Also while the robot picks up balls the color sensor should be able to tell what color the ball is.
Anyone have any designs that can help me
Also can only use pieces that came with the lego mindstorms nxt kit
This 4x Claw mechanism works extremely well at picking up Balls and odd shaped objects.

Hi Ray,
I like your 4-treaded crane, and would like to use, or at least understand how the treads,
( tread carriers?) are mounted. In the photo, I think I can see some turntables. I'm trying
to build a robot with inner treads the are fixed in relation to the body and outer treads
that can rotate with respect to the body. Have you posted some more photos, videos, or
building instructions that show how the treads (tread carriers) are mounted to the body.
Thanks for any ideas.
Howard

Wow, really nice claw, but I wouldn't have the parts to build that. I'd probably mount this claw I made onto the NXT 2.0 wheelbase and attach a few sensors. http://studl.es/2012/01/pincer-bot/

You only put the end letter string in the tags i.e.
Ray,
Thanks for posting the building instructions. I'm modifying my 8043 Excavator, adding an
NXT brain, different tread arrangement, and wanted to replace the scoop with some type of
clam shell. There are some good ideas in your instructions, that will help.
