How stable is the test-release? I would have to have it installed at school to be able to use it with my pupils, but that should only be done if it is sufficiently stable to be used by beginners, without strange errors popping up at every turn.

to my observation, it's as stabile as the Lego fw, and it's the only way to use John's enhanced NXC functions.
If you want to use only the simple weird Lego standard functions just use only the simple weird Lego standard firmware. ;)

The BCC test releases seem to me just as stable as any of the "official" releases. In my experience, there is usually almost no noticeable user interface difference. I doubt you would even be able to see a difference (it would just work better).

I think he means the BCC. I don't think John releases any test-Firmware.

To add one thing, the EFW gives better abort codes eg "File error -1" instead of "File error!"

Version 3.3.7.20 is the first version of BricxCC that was compatible with the 1.28+ LEGO or enhanced NBC/NXC firmwares. Any earlier version will generate code that cannot run on any 1.28+ firmware. If you want to use a 1.28+ firmware you should at the very least upgrade to the latest official release of BricxCC and seriously consider installing the latest test release on top of that.
