FLL Robot set vs LEGO EDucation kit vs Retail kit

Post by georgerboyce »

This question http://thenxtstep.com/smf/index.php?topic=1736.0 was posted in the thenxtstep forum but didn't get a good answer (IMHO).

The FLL Robot set is LEGO kits 9797, the Education kit, and 9695, the new education resource kit. Kit 9695 replaces kit 9648.

A very good comparison of 9797+9648 and the v1 and v2 retail kits is at http://static.robotclub.ab.ca/pages/nxt ... _edu.html#

I don't know the changes from 9648 to 9695 but I doubt it is very important. Also remember a very important rule, you can use just about any LEGO part in building a FLL robot. E.g. you can use the magnetic couplers http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/160-1 from a railroad kit to create quick connect extensions.

I hope this helps.
