MinuteBot Base - a base plate for LEGO Technic

Dear peoples of the Mindboards forums,

recently, I came across a Kickstarter project that I think a lot of us will be interested in. Since it's over halfway through its 90 day funding window and still need a lot of pledging to become successful, I thought I'd post it here:
The MinuteBot Base is a thick, robust base plate that can be used for construction of robotics based on LEGO Mindstorms. It extends a LEGO beam into a rectangular plate with 21 x 30 holes. The dimensions and holes are a perfect fit with LEGO products:
So yeah, basically, it's a base plate, like the ones we've all used in "regular" LEGOs, except this one will be specially made for Technic/ Mindstorms

The way that Kickstarter works, a project only receives the money people want to invest in it if the project reaches a preset amount of money by the end of a ninety day cycle, so, if you people are as excited about this as I am, it would be great if we all pledged some money - pledge enough, and the makers will give you a MinuteBot Base for free (kinda).

So here's the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/378 ... e?ref=live

PS: They didn't ask me to do this, and I do not mean to spam, but I just thought this would be a great addition to the LEGO Mindstorms and Technic world, and it would help a lot of our projects become even better.

I've seen this. I really like the idea, but, I've had a hard time justifying $30 on one plate, which I'd likely hardly ever use. I'm more into the studded building when making large things, because I'm more experienced with studded, and I have much more of them (an entire 48+ drawer cabinet bursting with studded, a bit more than half of another cabinet with studless). I'd like to support it, but I just can't. Plus, my parents are starting to bug me about saving for college (I'm only thirteen! I mean, c'mon!) , and, getting into more custom Microcontroller stuff, I need to save as much as I can.

So, I like it, I would support it if I could, but I can't. Sorry.

I saw this on technicbricks.blogspot.com. I'm excited for it and made a pledge.

It is a interesting idea, but somehow I cannot quite imagine myself using it at all...

You can also use it as a bat for your ping-pong playing robot.

Yes, but ping-pong with a bat is far more interesting (and challenging).

Oh, I think it'd be more interesting either way. 8-)
