Ah well. Other stuff came up for me too. I had a few sumos made, but they didn't work out too well. I've also just started building something that has to be partially working by August 2nd. Plenty of time, I know, but I want it to be nice.

I've ordered stuff from Edu before. Not pre-ordered, though. And with all the parts I have to buy for my current project, I probably won't have enough money to order an EV3 in the pre-order period, so I can't try.

"BoM" is short for "Bill of Materials". He means the part assortment in it is good

The NXTs in the 1.0 had a separate daughter board with the buttons and LCD on it. I haven't heard of a NXT from a 2.0 set having its screen die, but I don't remember what they did to fix the problem.

I've done the resoldering capacitors trick, and it's worked, marginally. Sometimes the screens lasted for months, sometimes just a few minutes. I've done it several times on two NXTs. I finally called LEGO about it and they replaced them, so you could try doing that.

Yes, I have several sumo rings. I don't think you should change any building stuff, as I don't have many light sensors.
