Re: Looking for EV3 Infra Red Sensor and Beacon Specs
I didn't think to try that. It'd present some interesting possibilities.

Re: Looking for EV3 Infra Red Sensor and Beacon Specs
It may well be that it has its own beacon signal. However, my tests have shown that any signal on the appropriate channel will act as a beacon, and the IR sensor is perfectly capable of tracking the source.

Re: Looking for EV3 Infra Red Sensor and Beacon Specs
Just a note about the beacon - it uses the same protocol as the Power Functions IR remote. The two sticks on the PF remote send the same signals as the up/down buttons on each side of the remote. Any signal coming from the correct channel will act as a 'beacon' for the IR Sensor. Basically, the only...

Re: Correct usage of knob wheel
The proper use is in a situation where two 12th double bevel gears or two 20th bevel gears would snap, I think. The wear and output can be uneven, but usually only under high-torque situations. I suspect it's usage in "RAC3TRUCK" is because the EV3 retail doesn't have enough other gears, o...

Re: Getting a WiFi dongle for EV3
I have a few Wi-Fi dongles, none of which work with the stock firmware. Before getting a special one, I tried this: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-USB200M-EtherFast-Network-Adapter/dp/B000085ZKV as it was just laying around as well. Wether or not I can use it in place of the dongle I'm not cert...

LEGO Distance Sensors Testing
I've been testing the various LEGO-made distance sensors for their accuracy in different situations. I have some preliminary results, which can be seen here: [LINK] The readings were taken starting 168Cm away from a LEGO box. It would take 10 readings over 1 second, average them, and then move forwa...

That's 2/3rd the price of an EV3 set...ridge-runner wrote:This Microinfinity IMU/Gyro has both USB and RS-232 interfaces, maybe it can be interfaced to the EV3 Brick.
